Chris leads our water practice in Australia. He is a chemical engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in industrial and municipal water, wastewater and solid waste management. This has covered investigations, pilot plants, design, specification, tendering, installation, commissioning and operations. Chris has been responsible for successfully implementing innovative resource recovery schemes including anaerobic treatment, oil from sludge, electrowinning of metals, Australia’s first membrane bioreactor, and the first aerobic granular system at a brewery. He has a passion for challenging designs and coming up with alternative approaches that are cost effective. At GHD, Chris has played a key role in the roll out of our innovation program and helped grow the Innovation Interchange. He has written more than 40 technical publications in the water and wastewater field, and is a highly-sought after speaker at industry conferences.

Patty has more than 15 years’ experience spanning drinking water and recycled water management to the development of environmental management and contingency plans, to assessing human health risk and environmental risk and impacts of contaminants on river health. She is an accredited auditor with Exemplar Global and has performed HACCP audits of a number of water authorities in Victoria as well as ActewAGL’s water treatment plants. Patty has particular experience in applying a risk-based approach, consistent with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 standards to evaluate impacts of activities (such as urban developments or wastewater discharges) on environmental values. She is also skilled in developing water quality risk management plans for drinking water, industrial use and water reuse.

Bernard is a civil engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in the water sector, spanning strategy planning, design and commissioning of new assets and facilities. He has led or held key roles in many multidisciplinary teams delivering major infrastructure within a range of relationship-based contracts including the master plan for the water and sewer schemes of Gosford City Council to 2051. His extensive knowledge of biosolids, has seen him lead Sydney Water’s Biosolids Strategy, and manage the design of the Malabar Process and Reliability Renewal Improvement Project.

Mark is a chemical engineer with more than 21 years' experience in heavy industry, with the last 12 years spent in the water and waste industries. He has extensive knowledge of the planning, design, construction and operation of water and wastewater conveyance and treatment systems, having led several medium and large strategy and design projects. These include managing projects to provide recycled water schemes to the townships of Gillieston Heights and Chisolm, developing options and concept design for the integration of a UV system into the Singleton sewage treatment plant, and assessing trade waste and inflow infiltration for the RAAF. Prior to GHD, Mark was Hunter Water Corporation's Manager, Treatment Operations and a pivotal member of the Hunter Treatment Alliance.

Rob is a civil engineer with 30 years’ experience in the water sector, including senior management roles within both consulting and water utility businesses. His extensive skills include planning, design, development, operation and management of a broad range of water infrastructure/services for the municipal, industrial, mining and rural sectors. Rob has been responsible for delivering a range of major water infrastructure projects in North Queensland, including the AUD140 million Townsville Water Supply Upgrade Project, the AUD189 million Townsville Wastewater Upgrade Project and the AUD115 million Ross River Dam Upgrade Project. He has also held industry leadership roles with the Australian Water Association, Australian National Committee on Large Dams, and the Queensland Water Directorate and Engineers Australia.

Jill is knowledgeable in the application and interpretation of federal and state water, sediment and soil quality guidelines, and well-respected for her work as an ecotoxicologist. Warren joined GHD in 1988 and has worked with the company in Brisbane, Cairns and Manila across a variety of disciplines, with a particular focus on water. He has played key roles in the Northern Manila Water Supply Project for Maynilad Water and the South East Queensland Water Strategy. Warren was Concept Design Manager and Engineering Manager for the Western Corridor Recycled Water Project in Queensland. On the industry front, Warren was a member of the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence Research Advisory Committee from 2010-2012, and a member of the Advisory Board for the Advanced Water Management Centre at the University of Queensland. He currently chairs the Queensland Regional Advisory Panel of the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities. Warren is also a former Director of GHD.

Sarah has more than 20 years’ experience in design and project management. Specialising in water and wastewater treatment, she has managed multidisciplinary design teams for various water and wastewater projects including the Launceston Sewerage Improvement Program, Queensland Urban Utilities’ Enterprise Excellence Program, and the Inner Doha Resewerage Implementation in Qatar, to name a few. She is an energetic team leader, and has a strong record of successfully delivering designs whilst closely managing commercial arrangements for clients. Blair is a chartered chemist with more than 33 years’ experience in the water and power industries, encompassing plant design, process monitoring, troubleshooting, operations support, and project management roles. He has fostered trusted relationships with many large municipal clients and managed wastewater infrastructure capital projects and programs up to CAN550 million. George’s wide-ranging skillset includes water quality trading, conventional secondary treatment, tertiary and advanced wastewater treatment systems using low and high pressure membrane technology to achieve ultra-low Total Phosphorus effluent limits.
